The Sangamon County Animal Control Center is responsible for enforcing state, county, and city ordinances pertaining to dogs and cats; impounding animals found to be in violation of those ordinances; investigating bite incidents; investigating inhumane treatment of animals and investigating domestic livestock injury claims.

Our hope is that this Web site will facilitate reuniting of lost pets and owners, better matches between pets and adoptive families, easier and faster adoption of pets and decrease the number of problem animals in Sangamon County.
