The Sangamon County Board Committee on Rural Transportation is taking steps to develop a coordinated transit system to provide public transportation to residents of the rural areas of Sangamon/Menard County. The Interagency Coordinating Committee of the Rural Transit Assistance Center at Western Illinois University will provide technical assistance to develop a sustainable transit system created to fit the specific needs of Sangamon/Menard County. Regional Planning Commission staff will provide project support. All meetings are open to the public. An open letter of invitation to participate is available here.
