Sangamon County Board Accepting
Applications for Appointment to Boards and Commissions

Springfield – The Sangamon County Board Office has announced that they are accepting applications from individuals interested in being appointed to terms on various boards and commissions in the community.  Through the provisions of state law and local ordinances, the Sangamon County Board appoints qualified individuals to serve on over two dozen boards and commissions throughout the community.  A complete listing of these entities and a description of their responsibilities can be viewed by accessing the County’s website at www.co.sangamon.il.us.

Also available on the website is a listing of those appointed terms that will expire in September, 2009 and a detailed procedure on how to apply for appointment.  In summary, individuals wanting to apply should submit a letter to the County Board Office expressing their interest and outlining their qualifications.  The letters can be sent to the following address:

The County Board Chairman will be submitting a list of candidates for appointment to the County Board at the August 11, 2009 meeting.  The County Board will then vote on those candidates at the September 8, 2009 meeting.  Individuals should have their letters of interest submitted by August 1, 2009 to be considered on the appointment candidate listing at the September, 2009 meeting.
