The ordinance applies to the unincorporated areas of the county as well as within villages that do not have their own zoning ordinance. The Department accepts petitions for zoning amendments, variances, and conditional permitted uses. The Zoning Board of Appeals then conducts a public hearing and makes a recommendation to the County Board for the final decision.
