Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)
RENT AND DENTAL -
To schedule 2010 appointments for Rent and Dental Assistance you may
call (217/535-3120) between the hours between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Call in days for Rent appointments are held on the second and last Fridays of each month. Rent appointments are held the second and last Fridays of each month.
Dental appointments are held the second Monday and the Monday after the last Friday of each month. Call in days for Dental appointments are the second and last Friday of each month.
FAN PROGRAM -
Call in days begin on Monday, June 7, 2010 with appointments on Tuesdays and will continue each week until all fans have been disseminated. Fans are available to households who have not received a fan in the last three years. Households who receive a fan this year will again be eligible for the fan program in 2013.
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE FOR WORKERS -
Calls for appointments to receive transportation assistance in the form of car repairs for full-time workers will be taken by Sangamon County Community Resources beginning Tuesday, July 13 and 20 for Wednesday appointments and again August 10 and 17 for Wednesday appointments or until funding is depleted. The number to call is 535-3120. The grant will target transportation needs in the community as they relate to employment retention. The intent of the program is to assist workers to their employment location.
Transportation assistance will be provided if the car would not be operable or safe without repairs. All requests for assistance will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The maximum benefit is $250.00 with families eligible for one service per program year. Payment for service will be made directly to the vendor making the repair.
Documentation required at the time of intake includes:
- Verification documentation of current full-time employment.
- A photo I.D.
- Social Security cards for each family member
- Family income documentation for the previous 90 days.
SMALL BUSSINESS LOANS -
Sangamon County Department of Community Resources has established
a Revolving Loan Fund to assist small businesses located in Sangamon
County. The purpose of the Revolving Loan Fund is to create and retain
jobs for CSBG
eligible persons and promote economic growth in Sangamon County.
The fund is intended to help "fill the gap" in conventional financing,
not to duplicate the financing of private lenders and developers. CSBG
funds are to be used in combination with bank financing and owner equity.
A private
lender (bank, SBA, etc.) must provide at least 51 %of the total loan.

SCHOLARSHIPS - Scholarship applications for 2011 will be available in March, 2011.
