John O’Neill was elected to the County Board in November of 2002 as the representative for the new District 26. District 26 is part of the fastest growing area in Sangamon County.

John serves and has served on the following committees:

• Court Services Committee – Chairman and Past Vice-Chairman
• Liquor Committee – Member and Past Vice Chairman
• Liquor Commissioner
• Building and Grounds Committee – Member
• Insurance Board of Managers – Member
• Coroner Facility Task Force Committee – Member
• OEM/911 Committee – Past Vice-Chairman
• SCCDS/911 Board – Past Member
• Community Service Block Grant Committee -  Past Member

John worked for the State of Illinois for more than 20-years and retired from the IL Department of Veterans Affairs, after working with veterans, veteran homes and veteran organizations statewide. John served as an Army Infantry Officer in Vietnam and Cambodia.

John attended Springfield College, graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and received his MBA from the University of Illinois.

John has been an active Republican for the past 40-years and serves as Precinct Committeeman for Chatham 6.
