John Davsko was appointed to the County Board in July 2007 and won another four year term in the Nov. 2008 election. John represents the 29th district whose boundaries include the Veterans Parkway and Wabash Ave. intersects and the growing Southwest corner of Springfield.
John currently serves on the following committees:
- Finance
- Roads & Bridges
- Liquor Committee
- Collective Bargaining
- Community Resources
In addition, John is a member of the Community Service Block Grant Advisory Board.
John, and his wife Sue, relocated back to Springfield in 2006 after having lived away for many years following his business career in the private corporate sector. He began his career at the Pillsbury Company in Springfield where he served in several management capacities. He is currently a consultant and advisor to a statewide, non-profit organization that focuses on keeping high school students from dropping out of school. He also serves several other clients in the region through his business consulting practice.
John, and his wife Sue, have two grown children. His wife is a Jazzercise franchise owner /teacher in the Springfield area and conducts weekly classes at a local church.
John grew up in Springfield, attended Griffin High School and is a graduate of St. Louis University.
John had a long career (over 30 yrs.) in the private sector serving in executive level capacities with several different companies. He served in various community positions in several of the cities that he lived in and was active in local Chamber of Commerce activities throughout his career. He understands the importance of being actively involved in the community and addressing and dealing with the various issues that affect the management and future growth of Springfield and Sangamon County.
